This week I'm at home with Natalie, the exceptionally talented home cook and very creative lady behind the popular instagram account @lovefromnatalie where she shares stunning images of her beautiful Edwardian home . Read on to learn more about Natalie, her home, lifestyle, family and her top tip for home decor.
Tell us about you
My name is Natalie I’m married to my childhood sweetheart and I’m a full time carer for our daughter Sofia. We live in Plymouth but wish it was the countryside.
Tell us about your home
We live in a 3 bed Edwardian home which was until recently owned by the local church.
How would you describe your home?
I’m very inspired by a mixture of old thatch cottages and a London townhouse with the style of decor that thrived in the late 90s/early 2000,s.
Which is your favourite room in the house?
My favourite room has to be our kitchen area, it covers most of the downstairs of our home and just around the corner there is a pantry, playroom and French doors into the garden.
How does your home reflect any passions or interests?
My main interest is cooking and it definitely shows. My home is filled with cookbooks and kitchenware on every available space.
What are your favourite items in the home?
My favourite items have to be the sofa and armchair we found in a charity shop. We only popped in as Sofia was asleep in her pram and we wanted her to continue napping so thought we would have a wander and we stumbled across these floral beauties for £250.
When you moved into your house was it the finished article or was it a project?
Our home was liveable but every room needed stripping back and completely redoing.
What renovation and decorating have you done and have you learnt any new skills?
We only have the small downstairs loo left to do and then we have completely redone the whole home. I can’t say I have personally learned any new skills other than to be patient and know that it’s going to cost double than what we first budgeted.
Have you had any DIY or styling disasters?
No, we’ve been really lucky. Although we did decorate our hallway before finishing work in other rooms and we have damaged the stairway so many times through bringing baths/beds up our narrow and winding staircase.
What is your top home styling tip?
Don’t rush into anything! I already want to redo some of the rooms we first did.
Is there anything in your home that you couldn’t live without?
I couldn’t live without my dishwasher because I’m always cooking.
They say that every home tells visitors a story about who lives there. What do you think your home says about you?
I think it’s relaxed and cosy and there is always something to eat.
