Tell us a bit about you
Hi I’m Mo and I’ve a lovely Dutch husband and three grown up girls in their twenties.
We own a small pub/hotel in the Georgian town of Holt, 3 miles from the glorious North Norfolk coast.
I’m a keen golfer and am a member at the Sheringham Golf Club with its Course right along the coast with stunning views along the cliffs.
My other passions are creative styling and playing the piano.
Tell us about your home
Our home was a new build in traditional Norfolk brick and flint. It’s sits on a 6 acre plot, 2 acres of which we’ve created a beautiful English Country garden from scratch.
How would you describe your home?
My home style is definitely eclectic and whilst I admire the discipline needed for neutral homes, I enjoy mixing colours and patterns too much to go down that path. It’s also filled with items from my travel and things that have meaning and memories. It’s what gives a home it’s individuality.
Whilst I’m a tidy person and like a tidy home, it’s definitely lived in.
Which is your favourite room in the house?
The conservatory is absolutely the favourite room as it gives a connection to the outside all year round and it’s where we spend most time relaxing.
When you moved into your house was it the finished article or was it a project?
We bought the land together with the plans for the house and not wanting to rock the boat with planning permission built the house according to the plans but it’s had a lot of changes since then.
We’ve since extended the house, enlarging the living room, conservatory and an extra bedroom. We’ve also taken out walls to open up the space inside. New ideas and skills must definitely been learned along the way over the years we’ve lived here.
Have you had any DIY or styling disasters?
Painting the floorboards white in the living room didn’t quite go according to plan but we got there in the end.
What is your top home styling tip?
Fill your home with things you love or mean something to you to avoid that shop bought generic look and don’t forget to add some greenery! Even if you can’t keep a plant alive, there are some great faux alternatives available now.
Is there anything in your home that you couldn’t live without?
My Jack Russell Terrier, Wilson.
They say that every home tells visitors a story about who lives there. What do you think your home says about you?
A home that tells a story, is warm and inviting and guests feel welcome.
