At Home With Pam @marthascountrypad
This week we are at home with Pam the lady behind the popular Instagram account @marthascountrypad. We love this account for it's beautiful country theme interior decor images.
Tell us about you
I work on the bank as an NHS nurse but my dream job would have been interior design as that is where my passion is!
Tell us about your home
My home is 12 years old but is built in a cottage style with old brick and plenty of character which is what drew me to it.
How would you describe your home?
I would describe my style as modern country and I love a mix of old and new.
Which is your favourite room in the house?
My favourite room in the house is probably my bathroom as it’s easy to style and photographs well.
What are your favourite items in the home?
I love my log burner which we use year round and I couldn’t live without a dog in the house .
When you moved into your house was it the finished article or was it a project?
When we moved in the house was a shell and a blank canvas so I enjoyed putting my own stamp on it and injecting some character with a mix of antique or old pieces and new things.
Have you done any renovation?
We knocked an en-suite through into a bathroom to make a bigger family bathroom.
Have you had any DIY or styling disasters?
When we knocked through for the family bathroom my husband ended up in A and E with 6 stitches after cutting his arm open on a tile needless to say they stitched him up and he came straight back home and carried on as we only had weekends to get the work done!
What is your top home styling tip?
My styling tip would be to fill your home with what you love don’t worry about trends and have a mix of old and new. I have lots of photographs and mementoes picked up from holidays such as shells and pretty stones and a drawer full of scented candles as I love a home to smell nice.
The Home Edit
If you could only paint your walls one colour, which one would it be?
I love a lived in cosy look which is why I like Farrow and ball colours my favourite being Stony Ground which goes with everything!
What is your pet hate when it comes to your own or other’s homes?
My pet hate is my white upvc windows! I’ve managed to change the handles to a black monkey tail design which has made them look a bit better and we’re hoping to paint the outside in the next 12 months.
Favourite front door colour?
French grey as it reminds me of the Cotswolds!
Carpet or Floorboards?
I am changing my carpet in the lounge to wooden flooring hopefully soon as I prefer all the floors to be practical with the dog but I do like carpet in the bedrooms
Kitchen table dining or formal dining room? (Or both).
We always eat in the kitchen even at Christmas and my kitchen table is the heart of the home
High gloss or rustic?
I don’t like a high gloss finish I much prefer a rustic look
Wallpaper or Brick Walls?
I do like brick walls as I think it adds texture and character although I have got my eye on some lovely panelling effect wallpaper so that might be my next project.
