This week we are at home with Lyndsey. The very creative lady behind the popular instagram account @myhomeismyhappy where she shares stunning images of her home. A specialist in creating amazing interior design on a budget, read on to discover more about Lyndsey, her home and family.
Tell us a bit about you
My name is Lyndsey (Lynz) and we live in a 4 bedroom new build house in the outskirts of the beautiful Durham city Northeast England.
Tell us about your home
The house is very spacious and bright. I think it’s 7 years old.
How would you describe your home?
Absolutely modern, it has big rooms for a new build and the flow just works for us as a busy family.
Which is your favourite room in the house?
Without a doubt it has to be the living room. When we moved in it had a modern fire on the wall which I hated. So I had a false chimney breast built in to add some of the missing character and warmth. This is the cosiest room in the house where we all congregate of an evening.
How does your home reflect any passions or interests?
I’m a hairdresser by trade so I have such a passion for colour. His Nibs adores travel so I think this is reflected in our home.
What are your favourite items in the home?
My favourite item has to be the saxophone because it was a present to my husband from the boys which he loved to play (I say play loosely) when we have friends around.
When you moved into your house was it the finished article or was it a project?
It was a white box when we moved in. This was a perfect blank canvass for us to be creative and to put our stamp on it.
What renovation or decorating have you done and have you learnt any new skills?
I’ve learned that I’m a good painter for sure. I do all the decorating in the house and I’m not too shabby with a drill either.
Have you had any DIY or styling disasters?
I’ve made some dodgy colour choices such as the orange in the office.
What is your top home styling tip?
Buy the best you can afford on the things you can see such a light fittings, switches etc. You can always go to vintage stores for vases and artwork.
Is there anything in your home that you couldn’t live without?
Oh that has to be the family. If I have them I have everything.
They say that every home tells visitors a story about who lives there. What do you think your home says about you?
I think my Instagram name says it all. Myhomeismyhappy
