This week we are at home with Hannah Beaumont Laurencia. The home interior images are incredible and not to be missed.
Tell us a bit about you
I’m Hannah Beaumont-Laurencia, I am the owner and director of Beaumont Organic which is a sustainable clothing brand, since 2008 we have been paving the way for fashion to have a more sustainable future, we do this by creating contemporary conscious clothing for the modern woman.
I live in a Victorian Semi which we bought in 2015 as 3 flats and renovated it into the home you see today. The house is in the centre of a lovely village called West Didsbury, which is packed with independent bars, restaurants and stores.
Tell us about your home
Our home is Victorian so about 100 years old, inside the styling is a mix between scandi and French.
I love minimal interiors but also love chandeliers and shutters. I have filled the house with pieces I love and I think the mix works well.
How would you describe your home?
It’s quite a mix as I said above, Scandi white washed/minimal with some traditional elements.
Which is your favourite room in the house?
I love our kitchen/living space, it’s open plan, looks out on the garden and it the best entertaining space but also equally lovely on a Saturday night in with the fire burning.
Closely followed by my dressing room (an absolute childhood dream)
How does your home reflect any passions or interests that you have?
It’s clean, minimal, functional, everything has a purpose which reflect my values of conscious living
What are your favourite items in the home?
Our oven, I love it and it’s made me start to love cooking more.
Our bed – we bought it year ago when we first got the keys to our old house and it's such a special and sentimental piece.
When you moved into your house was it the finished article or was it a project?
Huge project – it was three flats, We took out everything – all the walls and ceilings – and restarted including adding on a two storey extension.
What renovation/DIY have you done?
We did all the ripping out ourselves. I learnt to point – we have a lot of exposed brick walls so I repointed them. I also learnt to sand/paint … and do a lot of labouring.
Have you had any DIY or styling disasters?
We have had a few leaks – both on the roof and in bathrooms, but luckily no huge disasters.
What is your top home styling tip?
Know your style and be authentic to it. Makes everything so much easier if you stay true to yourself.
Is there anything in your home that you couldn’t live without?
My bath – oh how I have enjoyed a bath – especially since lockdown. And probably the kettle – I drink a lot of herbal tea!
They say that every home tells visitors a story about who lives there. What do you think your home says about you?
Calm, peaceful, welcoming, loved, cared for.
The Home Edit
Lived-in look or showhome?
Lol – I would definitely say lived in but because we are not precious at all and use everything - but we are so tidy and organised that I imagine everyone I know would say showroom.
If you could only paint your walls one colour, which one would it be?
All white
What is your pet hate when it comes to your own or other’s homes?
Unfinished bits
Favourite front door colour
Hmmm – well I’d normally say black – but we have gone for off white this time and it’s so pretty
Carpet or Floorboards
Floorboards
Kitchen table dining or formal dining room?
Both
High gloss or rustic?
Rustic
Wallpaper or Brick Walls?
Brick
