Tell us a bit about you
My name is Claire, I am a homemaker and have been with my husband Simon for twenty three years, I have two grown up kids and two Patterdale terriers. I'm always busy baking, cooking and creating a cosy home by upcycling what I can. I love being in my garden too and you can often find me there or up my allotment. We live in a small town called Felixstowe in Suffolk.
Tell us about your home
Our home is 1920’s semi-detached house, with a lovely long garden.
How would you describe your home?
Country cottage style.
Which is your favourite room in the house?
The dining room/kitchen its where the heart of the family really is. Its where we all end up at the day. The kettle is always on if anyone stops by.
How does your home reflect any passions or interests?
I love the shabby chic/country vibes for my home, and that shows around my home with the fabrics and blankets along with fairy lights.
What are your favourite items in the home?
I would say my dresser is as I was bought from marketplace and upcycled it.
When you moved into your house was it the finished article or was it a project?
It was very dated and needed lots of work, so it has been a slow process, but it has come a long way, there is still lots I want to do.
What renovation and decorating have you done? Have you have you learnt any new skills?
We have learnt lots regarding DIY we have put in a brand-new kitchen, shelving and along with much more and learnt how to wallpaper. There is nothing that we won't give a go.
Have you had any DIY or styling disasters?
Nothing major but I decide to wallpaper the same wallpaper in the front room and dining room but hated it so had to come down.
What is your top home styling tip?
With any home I will say take your time you will know if it works or not and I am a big believer of faux flowers they bring any room to life and look great as a centre piece.
Is there anything in your home that you could not live without?
There are lots of little things, but I think it would be my wood burner I love it too much to be without it.
They say that every home tells visitors a story about who lives there. What do you think your home says about you?
I think from the moment you walk in it gives you the cosy welcome feeling that tells you it is a relaxed family home with love for everyone.
