Tell us about you
I'm Amberley, I work in the tech industry and my hobby is all things decor and DIY. I live on the Wirral (between Liverpool and Chester) - Northwest.
Tell us about your home
I live in a 1960’s 4 bedroom semi-detached house which needed a lot of TLC when I bought it.
How would you describe your home?
It’s now been lovingly converted into a home with a “modern country / rustic theme”.
Which is your favourite room in the house?
I love the kitchen diner, it’s the one that was the most hard work (knocking down walls and saving up for) but totally worth it in the end.
How does your home reflect any passions or interests?
It shows off my passion for DIY and decor, I love the fact that you can transform a space with paint and accessories relatively easily.
What are your favourite items in the home?
I love my large range cooker which is ideal for when I get baking. I also adore the wooden rustic farmhouse table (which was actually free on Gumtree).
When you moved into your house was it the finished article or was it a project?
It was very much a project.
What renovation and decorating have you done?
Every room has been stripped out, plastered and painted, the floors have been replaced and as mentioned previously the kitchen and dining room was made into a large open plan space.
Have you had any DIY or styling disasters?
Oh, several, mainly involving drills and things not being securely fastened on walls.
What is your top home styling tip?
Add personality to your home with things that can be easily and affordably changed. It’s natural to want to switch things up, if you add colour to your home in the form of accessories, it means you can alter these simply as your tastes change.
Is there anything in your home that you couldn’t live without?
Blankets and throws. I always have a basket full of them by the sofa, so cosy and means you don’t have to wear bulky jumpers all the time too.
They say that every home tells visitors a story about who lives there. What do you think your home says about you?
I hope it gives off a welcoming homely vibe to all that visit. I think it represents me quite well, I like things tranquil and not chaotic!
